Facts and Myths about Bamboo Clothing
Let's talk about some of the myths and incorrect facts that are posted all over social media. One thing that really bothers me is when I read something really interesting to only find out it's just not true. Most people just read the headlines, watch a reel, and move on to the next short with an easy swipe of the finger. Now we have myths spreading through the web like an August heat wave in South Carolina.
This is misleading. I've seen this posted everywhere misleading people to think that it can be harvested in 60 days. This is just not true. Bamboo can grow up to 36" a day (depending on the species) shooting it to "full height" very quickly. But this is just the raw root. It is not the culm used for textile production. So fact--it can grow to full height in 60 days. Myth--it can be used in 60 days.
An amazing fact about bamboo is, after it reaches full maturity, it can be harvested annually for a few decades!
Myth! Most bamboo is in fact blended with cotton or spandex. Not all products labeled "bamboo" are the same. Make sure you choose a brand that discloses the facts about their products. Kai Blue's bamboo is 95% bamboo viscose and 5% spandex. It helps give it the stretchy quality that grows with your child, conforms to their body to help regulate temperature, and maintain its color and quality wash after wash.
Somewhat misleading. Myth? Well, cotton is seasonal. So it can be harvested the same year. We see beautiful blankets of cotton fields in the south every year. They're absolutely beautiful. We also see bamboo!
Fast forward a few months--we still see bamboo, but no cotton to be found except what's leftover from harvest, leaving behind a brown field that looks like it may have snowed a bit. If you're talking about height--yes, bamboo wins! Up to 36" per day and full height in 60 days depending on the species.
This is not true. Just like recycling, it depends on many aspects such as the process. Some processes for making bamboo fabric use harsh chemicals. Make sure you choose a company like Kai Blue who stands behind their sources to make sure you get quality bamboo that's eco-friendly. We carefully examine every step of our manufacturing process (from source to packaging) to ensure not only the highest quality but also to protect the environment for generations to come. Using eco-friendly and sustainable process, Bamboo Clothing has a much smaller impact on the environment.

Bought this zippie in a bigger size. I cannot wait for my little one to wear it. The design is so cute!
My boys love their beach pjs. They always want to match. I love that these pjs are so stretchy and will be able to be worn for months.
